Almost Jan

So nice having a few days off work.....
1 - really cleaned my bedroom - took out 4 bags to donate or toss - cleared surfaces and organized.
2 - took fridge apart and cleaned it out - Travis came down and looked in the fridge and asked - where did everything go? I said it is just cleaned and organized - and some crusty food was tossed...so we have the same amount of "good" stuff - just got rid of the "stunt" containers

Christmas was awesome - we had so much fun! Thr gifts were good too. Don bought me a fancy Cricut cutter for my crafting!!!! Michele and Jims house is great for hosting.

Fri - SKINS and Rockband at Carries - we had dinner with the Jeromes - then Carie and I watched two episodes before Lon came back with his new Rockband disc. We laughed and lauged and had such fun. Carrie had frozen virgin margaritas that we spiced up with Tequila - it wasn't mixing well so we added some Sunny D (LRH3 idea) it was GOOD!! So we invented LRH Sunnyritas that night. While playing Rockband Carrie was VERY WINDY - one time I'm like - dude, did you Sht your pants? Somehow Native/Indian came up so I nicknamed her Sunnyrita Shitzherpants as her new Indian maiden name - Lonny and I were rolling - Carrie said I couldn't blog it......but it was FUNNY! Besides we all have our IBS/dump issues - its all good among rellies. LOVE

Sat I met Abby and Heidi for lunch - then they went to a play and then after that Abby and I went to Twolves game - it was a blast!

Sun - went over to Carries to watch more SKINS

today - laundry in my NEW WASHER DRYER that Don installed over the weekend. IT IS GREAT!!!! Twolves tonight with Heidi.

Merry Christmas Eve

I am off until Jan 2nd - but I worked about an hour today and will do the same on Fri. On-call til 1 so my day is almost done - and no calls. Yesterday I went to the Dr and found out I am actually 5'4" - not 5' 3 1/2" like I always thought - funny. I got taller just in time to shrink - maybe my yoga phase paid off :) But I am getting back on the exercise band wagon. I had 5 tubes of blood drawn this morn -so far I have not been diagnosed as diabetic but I've been pre for a couple years. They are also checking my b12 becsaue of Heidi's results and Michele also had low b12. Dr wants me to be serious about weight loss for 6 months - visit her every two months and see what I need help with - been a couple years since I was serious about it. I just changed to this Dr and I REALLY LIKE her!

I don't really want gastric bypass and only started thinking about it because Heidi is. So now I have to devise a plan I can live with - I like to exercise so am going to put more focus at that to start and then incorporate eating changes. Maybe do Seattle Sutton every other week or something. I didn't really like Weight Watchers although it does work. The food part sucks - cuz I love food and FLAVOR - chicken and broccoli don't cut it although you can lose tons on it. How can I have a spicy, flavorful, healthy diet? Cumin on my veggies? Any recipes would be greatly appreciated.

Tonight we are having our little family Christmas with Potbelly sandwiches for supper and gift opening around 6. Tomorrow at Micheles - Heidi and I are going over early to help cook.

Maybe everyday I should blog what I ate - that would make me pay attention! But do I want to be that honest about my oops :) cuz there will be days! Stay tuned - could be exciting.

My new treat is this - pure pumpkin mixed with sugar free vanilla pudding - it is good and filling and fairly healthy! Need to make more.

Carrie - we need to get together over the next week!!

Love and HAPPY HOLIDAYS/MERRY CHRISTMAS

past weekend

It was a ton of fun!
Fri - cabbage rolls and pierogie making PLUS Rock Band. I had cramps in my legs the next day from drumming (foot pedal)

Sat - the play was awesome - the character that rocked was named Gladys Herdman. That young girl was a great actor.
Court's bday - it was nice - they had a taco bar and a band
Jon and Gen party - I had a lot of fun this year - maybe becasue I was in the basement pretending I could sing for most of the night. Also tho' Graham and Sara and Oscar were down there too and I realy like them. Jon and Gen have some pretty cool friends. Timmy D was there with a scary facial hair thing going on. There were also Pickle dogs which Jon made sure I got one or two as they were going fast and I love a pickle dog!

Sun - made cookies at Heidis and a blizzard came - my cookies were chesecake brownies and orange cranberry drops. Both VERY EASY and DELISH!!!! I, like Heidi, don't really like to bake.....much prefer cooking. When I took my few extras home Don declared that the orange cranberry cookies were his new favorite.

Mon - back to work and the my non-profit board meeting. It was kind of depressing due to market conditions and so many houses being lost/left. We are hearing it won't start turning til 2012. I was hoping only another year or so.....

Tonight - my womens DFL meeting is cancelled due to weather so I will hit the grocery store - exciting!

and a purple tree

how funny - my favorite color is purple and I took the quiz and it said I should have a purple tree!

For you, the holidays represent a time of creativity and expression.
There's no way you'd do something bland simply for tradition's sake.

You are an independent person, and you definitely do the holidays your own way.
And you're decadent enough to go way over the top with any unusual holiday ideas you have.

Your purple tree would look great with: Purple lights and ornaments

You should spend Christmas Eve watching: A Christmas Story

What you should bake for Santa: "Kitchen sink" cookies - with a ton of things in them

stuffed I kyped from Kateys blog

I am a Striped Sweater

You are a bouncy, lively, and even a little raucous.
You love life loudly, and everyone is invited to your party.

You are very hyper, and sometimes you act without thinking.
And while your impetuousness gets you in trouble, your charm gets you out of trouble.
You Are a Striped Sweater

Thur

Sat Kate and I went to a Wolves game and I was almost ready to leave early - I was tired cuz I had been up since 4 with T (anxiety) and they were sucking! But I stuck it out. Game on tues I went alone cuz everyone was busy or working - had fun tho'...they lost but played much better. Talked to some Jazz fans behind me - one girl was a Wolves fan - the other 3 used to live in MN but now live in UT - so they follow Jazz. And Wittmans GONE!! YAY!! Now for McHale. Last night watched some of the game on TV - pretty good but Carmelo came out in the 3rd qtr like a crazy man and they ended up losing. Damn Nuggets. Still was fun to see the energy that has been missing.

busy days ahead - pirogies at Carries on Fri
Sat - play with mom/h/m/girls, Courtney 30th bday and J&G Keg I mean Toys for Tots
Sun - cookie making at Heidis - I hate Christmas baking but she has a cookie exchange which is fun - but I have to have a cookie making date or it will never get done.

Our tree is awesome this year (I always say that....cuz it is always true) - Don and I cut it down on Sun at Stacey tree farm. Been going there since we drug our kids around on a sled so they could keep up. Alas - they don't go with anymore - either working or sleeping :) We had to cut about 2 feet off the bottom to fit our 9 ft ceiling. It is so beautifully full and has 1400 lights on it. Don is anal about his lights - took 3 hours to put them on the tree. I love it....but I hate it- ya know. I mean - 3 hous - c'mon. I have those paper glasses you put on and look at the lights and they make shapes/designs The ones I have right now make the lights look like little santa heads - it is so cool.

Just renewed my six pack of tix for Saints games - looking forward to that outdoor baseball. Even tho' winter hasn't started.

We are having an LRH night at the game in 17th - I got extra great seats for being a season ticket holder. Travis and a friend are also going so they can use my regular 2 seats I have for every game. Of course they are going cuz they love LeBron - not becasue they are Wolves fans.

Post Turkey Post

I saw I was tagged and haven't done anything about it yet. My photos are NOT organized - but I will try.

Thanksgiving thanks - family, friends, HEALTH, a good job, nice house, rellies galore. I am SO THANKFUL for it all!!!

Shop til u drop - we were at JC Penney at Maplewood Mall by 3:45 am. I bought nice winter coats to donate to Sponsor A Family - only 20$ each (doorbuster) and I bought a shirt for Travis and a George Foreman grill for me.

Next Stop - Sears - I bought the washer/dryer special - only 700 for both (i think this is the washer http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02640412000P)High capacity and very efficent!

on to Target - Mom and Greg shopped here _ I did pick up a shirt and Jeans for Don and a movie for CHEAP!

Then it was breakfast at Coffee Cup - where they know Greg and his order with out even asking. When we walked in the waitress said - "Here come the Shoppers" and she called Greg honey. Typical DELISH greasy diner food - and ginormous portions. I took leftovers home for Don.

Then Heidi dropped my stuff at home - tok me back to moms and then she went to work. Mom and I went to another Target - looking for gift for Kelsey. I ended up buying a vacuum for 29$ for my upstairs - used it on Sun and it is AWESOME!!!! Then we went to Rosedale where I bought presents for Zach. I was home by 10 in time to take Travis to work.

When Heidi got off work we went to get pedicures and then DSW for shoes - bought work boots for Don.

I am close to being done with my shopping!

tomorrow is Thanksgiving

I will be making my Awesome Apples and Sausage Stuffing (also has cranberries) from All Recipes.com. It is very delicious and I can't imagine a holiday without it. Tonight is a Twolves game with my friend Sharon (aka Pnut, Roz etc). I have another game on Sat and Abby will be my date.

Plan on shopping Fri - Sears has a great deal on a washer/dryer and I really need those! Need a gas stove too but looking for a deal still.

Yay for the upcoming long weekend!!

Carrie - take me to the Container Store

assorted

Wolves win finally - broke an 8 game losing streak. Me and LRH3(Carrie) went - she is a fun Twolves date just like LRH2(Heidi). We had supper at Eddingtons before the game, yummy soup and breadsticks! I had tomato pine nut basil and Carrie had the chicken wild rice.

I have a crappy cold - chesty cough - sore throat and lots of snot. Not so yummy!

Tomorrow night Heidi and I will be at the game - Celtics in town - which means KG in da house AND he will play. Last year he was injured. They are giving away posters as it is the 20th year. WE WILL BE EARLY TO GET THE FREE GOODS!!!!

Dad's surgery went well - talked to him this morning and he sounded great. Hope all stays well.

Sun - Don is taking a card making class with me at Archivers. We will be making Shimmer and Shine Christmas cards - so this year if you get an embossed card it may have been handmade with love by Don. He took a similar class with me last year and enjoyed it. He won't sit around and craft but he likes this class cuz it uses tools - heat gun. So last year after the class I bought a heat gun for home. I have used it several times and really do like embossing. Of course I love glitter, bling and glamour :)

5 years making butter

I received my Land O'Lakes key chain today for my 5 year gift. On my actual anniversary (Monday) my boss will get a cake from Taste of Scandinavia. YUM!!

dreams

while not as dramatic or crazy as Heidi's dreams I did have a minor nightmare last night. SOMEONE stole my beloved Coach purse. I was on a trip with a bunch of folks (on a bus?? I think) and stuck my purse down with all the luggage in bins cuz I wasn't going to need to access it. When we got home (it seemed to be a school or college) I went over to where everything was being unloaded and the bin my purse was in was EMPTY!! How could someone I had just be on a trip with walk off with my purse?!?!?!? Then I was thinking - oh well...not so bad - at least my wallet and check book weren't in there as I had removed them prior - but wait that's right I put them back just before I put it in the bin. Great - now I have to call the bank and credit card companies - what a pain!

Then I woke up (fell asleep on couch) and saw my purse on the chaise and all was well.

Having my purse in my sight at all times is a bit of an OCD issue for me - no matter what kind of purse it is - if I can't see then I think something is wrong (forgot it, lost it etc). That's right.....I am slightly nuts!!!

The Patriot

AM 1280 Radio station The Patriot is not news - it is right wing propaganda. No source should be your single source of info. You are not informed.....you are brainwashed.

Veterans Day

Called Jon this morn to wish him a Happy Vet's Day.

I am anti-war - marched with my sibs in an anti-war protest on Labor Day when the RNC was in town.

Spent many sleepless nights and joined a group when my baby bro was in the first Gulf War.

This "war" we are in now is BS.

However...just because people are anti-war does not mean they are unpatriotic or don't support the soldiers!!!!!!!!

It doens't mean we are anti-america either Michele Bachman.

BRING THE TROOPS HOME!!!

random

Fri I was off so went to Archivers early and it was packed. I did get a few things and make a cute frame I am going to give to Joni and Jesse for their new babe.

Sat - crafted - ran kids to and from work - went to Carries with Heidi for pizza and a movie. The movie is "Once" and I recommend it!

Sun - off to the Rockettes Holiday show. It was awesome!!! They even had iceskaters. Then I went home and made a nice steak dinner with salad and baked potatos for me and T. Then Sunday night telly.

Now for Don's hunting saga. He and Phil went to Lancaster on Fri and as of last night had nary a shot - hardly seen a deer. What? You may ask....how can that be?

Well Shleprock is with them this trip - SAT - they got soaked as the field was very wet; no extra shoes - 4 wheeler broke down - Mr Heater broker down (they are in a tent) so they had to buy a new one in town.

Sun - friend Mike is is working in ND on a project decided to drive out and hang with them. He ended up towing them back to town as they bottomed out and ripped the oil filter off and drained out all the oil.....spent the day repairing the car.
So Mike drove 4 hours (he thought it would only be a couple) to hang out for 4 hours and then drive back 4 hours.) And the hanging out ended up being towing and repairing.

I'm thinking it should make a turn for the better as they had 3 things break down.

Meanwhile - weekend hunter, Jim Hunter, got 2 deer I hear. Bastard! hehehe

mostly hoops

so my Halloween post isn't working - I'll try again later. Tried to upload a video.

Twolves lost in double OT to the Spurs last night - they played pretty good but there were some dumb errors and a rash of bad calls. No one could stop Parker tho' -he had over 50 points. It was ridiculous - he doesn't even look that good but man he was unstoppable. Pnut went with me and we had a great time. She is a good bball date as she likes the game and UNDERSTANDS the game. It was free parking too - BONUS!

Kevin Love is looking good - people mad about the Mayo trade should get over it. He may not be a Superstar but he has talent and has been an asset already.

No we just need to start winning - next home game is the 15th but I will be in Lancaster. Who wants my tix?

Election is over

OBAMA WINS! I was home in my jammies last night switching between about 8 channels of coverage. At 8:10 I decided to throw some clothes on and head over to OBBS Bar where my state rep Sheldon Johnson was having an election night do. The drinks were cheap and there were free appies (which I didn't eat). It was fun - caught up with some folks I hadn't seen in a while (like Kathy Lantry City Council President).
I decided to go home aroudn 10 and put my jammies back on and settle in for a late night when to my surprise they started calling Obama the winner. It was SO AWESOME!

Headed home and watched both speeches. McCain gave an excellent speech even though some of the morons in the audience started booing. When Obama gave his speech and mentioned McCain the dems clapped.....I'm just saying.

Looks like Franken is giong to lose - it is very close and there will be a recount but I don't think it will matter.

Now we just have to keep it together and not screw anything up. The DEMs have a huge responsibilty. It is a very tough road ahead and I don't envy the pols who will try to fix the messes.

I voted

went to the polls at about 7:10 - line was outside the bldg but it went really quickly. Of course by the time we left the line was virtually gone. Don was number 114 and I was number 112. That is a good sign! A guy in Lakeville called in and said there were 400 people already at 7am. Hope they weren't McCain voters.

Secret Life of Bees

A really awesome movie. Time is the 60's and the Civil Rights movement. There were some shocking moments that hurt my heart. To be hated so for no apparent reason is just so hard to grasp. In one scene Jennifer Hudson's character goes to town to register to vote and a group of old white guys stop her to ask what she thinks she is doing - I won't tell more but I just gasped....and then cried. So much hate in the world.

Weekend Update

Fri - went shopping at LB - got some great deals as I also had a 20% off coupon.

Sat - Lo's bday party. It was a nice night and we had a good time.

Sun - My friend Kate and I went to a Women for Obama Rally - due to inclement (feezing, wet) there was a poor turnout. We had fun - there was some good music and my sign was a finalist for best sign. What did it say you ask????

"My husband is a Joe Six Pack and he is voting OBAMA"
And my face was very red from wind burn.

unofficial results

I have not heard from my DR but I do know this much....
my brain is great - no MS!!!!!
there are enlarged vessles or something like that - not sure if this is something to worry about or not

I have a deviated septum - so no more hassling me about sniffing etc. I have a more than valid nasal issue :)

I left a message for my Dr earlier today so hopefully they will get on it!

MRI is done

Finally! It was a seated one. They buckle you up and then slide you up, tilt you back between the magnets. It was a little tight but totally open in the front and I had a big tv to look and listen at. Much better - I got a litte panicky at the end but made it. Michele placed my iv and hung around and injected my contrast agent. She did a great job and I think it helped me relax a little more too. CDI should call my DR tomorrow so we should know soon what is up. My scan were very good.

MRI today

On Fri I had a panic attack in the MRI. Seriously - I tried twice to do it and just couldn't. I'm too big - the space is too small!!! So I have an appt today at CDI where Michele works for an open sided MRI - which I have had before and was fine. I will be so glad to get this over and then find out what is up.

3pm today. And THANKS to Michele for helping me get in so quick and at a discount for my out of pocket.

The Nordin breakfast was fun - it is so great just to see everyone once in awhile.

Friday, October 17, 2008

so hopefully today is the day

leaving work around 3:30 to take T to work - take my valium and go for my MRI.

Nordin breakfast tomorrow - looking forward to it. Don and I might do another drive - Sun I am getting a massage. Can't wait!!

Thanks for all the calls, texts, emails and prayers.

MRI delay

So late yesterday afternoon I get a call from the clinic that I have to reschedule due to no staff (called in sick). SERIOUSLY!?!? So my new appt is for Fri at 5:30 CST. If that one falls through I am going to CDI where Michele works - hell with what it costs; I want to know what is up.

medical update

so I met with a DR yesterday and will have my MRI tomorrow at 6pm CST (in case you want to think of me at that exact moment :)). The spots are very small (4mm and 5mm) definitely no tumours or anything like that. So..... she didn't seem to worried..... but I don't suppose they do anyway. Don't want to freak out the patients. I had a mini-breakdown yesterday (1 minute or so), otherwise I am fine, slightly worried but fine. It will be, what it will be, and then I will have to deal with it.

And they did up my bp meds for now.

Of course because I'm a fixer/problem solver I have already thought of various directives I would have to write down for folks depending on the outcome of my MRI.

I still have the damn headache (6 days now). And my feet are tingling at this moment.

love you all and thanks for all the support!!

Monday, October 13, 2008

weekend

Fri I went to the Dr as I had been feeling funny for a few days - assumed my blood pressure meds needed to be adjusted. They sent me for a head CT and I ended up being at a DDR until 9 pm. They found 2 small spots in the white matter of my brain - could be no big deal - could be MS. I have to go in for an MRI now to get a better pic.

Sat - went to Abbey's soccer game and not much else.

Don got the Halloween stuff out - I need to take some pix and post.

Sun - we went for a drive to Red Wing - had lunch at a great cafe. Yellow Tuna sandwich on sunflower bread (panini style) with fresh fruit, kettle chips, and carrots. SO GOOD! Smokey Row Cafe in downtown Red Wing. Home of the Jenny Lind bakery!!

So please think good thoughts and prayers for me as I continue on with the doctors.

Fri debate

one thing that irritated me and others was McCains hostile attitude and the fact he wouldn't look Obama in the eye.

Dear President Bush

I think I am a good gamble. I'd like to put my request in for a bail out. For less than $200,000 I could be debt free. That is such a small amount in the scheme of things. Think of it as foreclosure prevention.

Once I am debt free, I can guaranteee I would stimulate the economy by shopping til I drop. I would also be able to increase the amounts I donate to charities. In addition, I would increase my 401k contributions.

All in all I think I am a much better investment than AIG or any of those idiots.

Sincerely,
Julie Benick

who will bail me out

excerpt:
The secretary of the Treasury and the chairman of the Federal Reserve have told us that now is not the time to assign blame and that we must concentrate on preserving the bedrock institutions of our economy. But the real bedrock of that economy is the American family, countless thousands now in or facing foreclosure, families falling further behind on credit cards or paying 400 percent interest to payday lenders just to keep groceries on the table. The logic is impeccable: The big need protection, and the small pay for it.

Whether the Federal Reserve and the Treasury acted prudently, time and the American voter will tell.
But there are simple, tangible steps that government can take now.
•Fannie and Freddie should immediately declare a moratorium on home foreclosures for at least 90 days. Now that they own the mortgages, these two institutions can take direct steps to ease the foreclosure crisis.
•Congress should amend the ill-advised bankruptcy statute enacted just a few years ago to permit neutral bankruptcy judges to adjust mortgages, principal and interest to keep people in their homes and to keep payments flowing on mortgages.
•A Financial Product Safety Commission should be empowered to review the disclosures and sales practices on all mortgages, credit cards, payday loans and other consumer lending to knock out tricks and traps that have ensnared millions of citizens, costing them billions of dollars each year.
•A new GI Bill of Rights should offer government loans to anyone who wants to go to college, and students should be allowed to pay four years of loans with four years of public service—military, Peace Corps, Teach for America or other public work.

The Bush administration is intent on rebuilding a financial system that has been devastated by mindless deregulation and unchecked greed. So far, the plan is to increase the costs imposed on the very families that were victims of unconscionable practices that produced this crisis.

American families don't have lobbyists. They don't have television news cameras reporting their every move, or powerful friends to hit the talk-show circuit. Despite these handicaps, it is time for Congress to put its energy into new ideas that will rebuild the economic security of the middle class.

local Kmart - guns, coke and criminals

http://kstp.com/article/stories/S584015.shtml?cat=1

I don't shop here - maybe I should start. haha
I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're 'exotic, different.'* Grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, a quintessential American story.*
If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.* Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, and you're a maverick.*
Graduate from Harvard law School and be President of the Law Review, and you are unstable.* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.*
If you spend 3 years as a community organizer, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.*
If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.*
If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.*
If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.* If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant , you're very responsible.*
If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's* If your husband is nicknamed 'First Dude', with at least one DUI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

OK, much clearer now.

camping

The 19th Annual Womens camping weekend took place the 5th through 7th. We had lots of fun in spite of a chilly Fri and short bursts of rain on Sat. Between all that we did have some nice fall weather. Sitting around the campfire with your girls and some beers is SO MUCH FUN! Nice to connect and chat with no hubbies, kids or curfews.

attendees - me, lulu, nadine, helen, donna, roz, wendy
no jr bi's this weekend

next year is our 20th and lots of great ideas are swirling around for a special trip. But we may just end up back at Louies. He gave lulu a shirt with the campgroudn logo and he wrote on it with marker - Little Louies Girls Camping Group - or something to that effect. It was so cute - he is about 70 or so. Collinwood Campground in Cokato MN - nice place.

I did not take pix but will get some to post later

Next Sat is ren fest - weekend of 27th is Nami walk and Kyles wedding.

Sage Holben - active neighbor

http://kstp.com/article/stories/S557409.shtml?cat=1

Sage is part of the Women of SD67 and active in the Peace movement. She is a lovely lady who lives in my 'hood. She was on the news last night.

"No way. No how. No McCain. "

Watching Hilary speak last night was awesome and dissapointing. It made me bummed she wasn't our candidate but proud of what she accomplished in the speech. Obama peeps couldn't have asked for anything more - she went above and beyond and gave a GREAT speech. Bill was misting and you could tell he was so proud of her. Chelsea was great too.

good weekend

Fri - some Olympics

Sat - was supposed to go to Saints batting practice but no one else could/would go so I skipped it. Was good to rest anyway - did some reading. Then off to Jons bday party - it was really fun. Carrie and Lonny came and a bunch of G&J friends. We played Catch Phrase - casual group style, Guitar Hero - watched Phelps and some other races, had a bonfire and a MN Twins cake.

Sun - got up and went to Jun Bo for Dim Sum with Kate - delish!!! We ate like Queens. Then Don and I went to Mary Mitchells grad party (daughter of Dave and Ann whom we have know since the early 80's) We hadn't seen them in about 4 years so we had a great visit!

Then it was off to the drive in for the big engagement surprise! Dad and Ellie, Jon and Gen, Me and Don, Jeanine, TJ, Kate and boyfriend, Jims sister and mom were all in attendance. Michele had no idea. We all sat in our cars with radois tuned to the drive in station. Jim had pre-recorded their song and a little story along with the "Will You Marry Me" it was a grand romantic gesture. The song was Bryan Adams "Everything I Do" from Robin Hood - after the somg his voice came on and did a littel spiel about history of drive in and the memories made there - like those of him and his girlfriend - then he popped the question and we all honked our horns and then ran over to where they were parked. She could not believe we were all there and that everyone kept her in the dark.

J&G and Don and I stayed for the movie - Tropic Thunder - it was pretty funny.

Back at work today - going to a Saints game tonight.

Mon Aug 11 - do not read if offended by potty stories

So this is pretty funny and I'm sure several of you can relate as you have had this issue or love someone who has these issues. Mom - don't be mad. :)

Last Thur mom and I went to Angie's bridal shower (Kyle Sjostrands fiance) - Amy hosted a lovely party with great food cooked onsite by her friend. Realtor by day - personal chef by hobby. The food was awesome and fairly healthy. So as my mother and I are driving back to St Paul from Plymouth she says - "Pull over now - I have to sh!T." What are you kidding me - we are on 694 coming on on Victoria and there is no place to stop - "I'll go in the weeds but you better pull over now!!!" So I exit on Victoria hoping there is something but I see nothing - oh wait - there is St Odilias School and Church - whip in to the lot and drove around (BIG Catholic church) - damn nothing - crap, there is a car in lot and another one out back. Mom says too bad - can't wait. So I pull into the way, way, back of the lot where there are a couple of very large dumpsters - drop her off and drive up a little. In case someone came out I didn't want to be right by her. So then I see a guy coming down the hall shutting off lights walking in our direction. I'm sure he is wondering what in the heck is going on (it is 9:30 PM) - so I turn around back towards my mom and yell - "Someone is coming" she comes out from behind the dumpster, jumps in and we tear off just as the guy comes out of the building. Whew - close call.

I barely left the couch all weekend due to Olympic coverage on 4 channels. Did anyone see the mens swim relay last night?????? AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

SO now I have to go to grocery store tonight since I didn't see daylight all weekend.

where has summer gone

Zach is 22 - which means he is exactly half my age. That would be cooler if it didn't mean I was 44 ! (pix on Heidi's blog)

We have had our shares of trials and tribulations lately - please think good thoughts for us. (focusing on T)

Work is crazy busy as we are implementing Wave B of our new system. Can't wait for next year when it should finaly be done ( or as done as it will be )

Travis got his first paycheck Fri and it was gone by Sun. It was only 131 and he owed me 20 but he is gonna have to try to budget it out a little more that that :)

I finally did some crafting this weekend as I planed to go to the pool on Sun but no sun. Pix later. I made a black and white papercrafted purse and mod podged some wood letters that I will embellish. Felt good to drag out my stuff and make something - it is art therapy for me.

This is outside Moes - a great 50's diner Don and I have stopped at before. I think in Osseo,WI.

so we had lots of fun with a couple bumps per usual. The crowd was a little disappointing this year. Probably a combo of weather and the economy. My van had us, Jon and Gen and Pnut (my friend Sharon). We headed out about 9:30 am on Fri.
Fri night dinner at the resort - not so great. We won't go back there.
Sat - Breakfast at Daddy Maxwells and the off to the Show

Dragon Boats

Zach rowed in one of these over the weekend - they made top 10.

The fierce faces of Chinese dragon boats filled St. Paul's Lake Phalen on Sunday with 27 crews of 20 each racing in their exotic vessels, part of the weekend's Dragon Festival at Phalen Park on the city's East Side.
The 40-foot-long boats are elaborately carved and painted, and crews paddle to the beat of their own drummers on board.
The festival had an Asian-Pacific flair, with activities including Hawaiian dance troupes, martial arts demonstrations, dance and other arts, and Indian, Thai, Hmong, Vietnamese and Chinese food.

Franken gets Democratic challenger in Senate race

this ticks me off - if she was so interested she should have been in the process a longtime ago. If we are going to have endorsements then people should stick to them - or dump them. I'm not married to either but it just muddies the waters when people jump in at this point. Does she want Norm to win????

excerpt - Democratic Senate candidate Al Franken will face a primary opponent, an attorney from a well-known family in Minnesota legal circles.
Priscilla Lord Faris said she will file paperwork to run in the September primary before Tuesday's deadline. Lord Faris is the daughter of retired federal judge Miles Lord, who remains active in DFL politics. She is managing partner of a personal injury law firm.

great article about my hood - bad news about my hood....... my house used to appraise at over 200 thou and now is more like 130 because of the bust. The house in the photo is vacant - probably was over 200 thou a few years ago. Wish I was a buyer these days :)

btw....I am President of the Board for DBNHS (mentioned in the article)

JOBS

Travis has one!! Zach helped him get hired at Potbelly in Woodbury. I am very excited for him and hope it works out.

Don has a new one - he started working for our friend Tony's Mr Handyman company. Last night he got his first company shirt. So far he has worked at a private home and 3 Auntie Annes stores at the malls making repairs. The pay is much better and he seems to be liking it and he can learn to be even more handy :)

George

is sexier than ever! Seriously - he put on a great show. He was very thankful to his fans for support - you could just tell he was having so much FUN!
http://www.georgemichael.com/

He played for about 2 1/2 hours - 2 encores. He closed the show with Freedom.
The crowd was also awesome - lots of dancing and singing along. So I got a bonus workout

It was over way to soon and I wish I could do it again!!!!
I was so energized it took FOREVER to fall asleep

July

Thur July 3rd - day off - hung at Heidis pool and then went on Tony and Nadines boat and watched fireworks over the river in St Paul - COOL.

Fri the 4th - Canterbury - we also won back most of our money - it was nice that Travis came with his girlfriend so we could all get to know her. I like her so that is a nice bonus. Then off to our house for our annual neighbor party - great food and near death experience (check out Heidis blog for details and pics) What more can you ask for :)

Sat the 5th - Saints game - they made a comback and won - we tailgated and had a good time

Sun 6th - Joey called and asked if I wanted to go to Twins game - so Heidi and I were both at the Twins game but not together. The game was boring until the 7th inning - then it was awesome - TWINS WIN!!!

Mon - back at work - not feeling that well. Tonight George Michael concert with my friend Wendy. CAN"T WAIT! Guilty feet have got no rhythm

June

Summer is flying by even tho it really just began.

Mon was a Saints game (http://www.saintsbaseball.com/) they lost but it was lots of fun. Donna and Tricia came with and it was nice to hang with them as we don't see either of them very often.
Tues - work Happy Hour - fun - saw Brian that used to work here.
Wed - relax - couple loads of laundry and Shear Genius started
Thur - Sen Mee Moua's bday party on Harriet Islnd. FUN - great night. Frannie Franken was there. This was the 3rd Annual "Ambitious Female" party for Sen Moua. It is a fundraiser for Mee - she uses the money to support other female dems (boys too) and non-profits that focus on womens issues. Her family makes the food (they have a great restaraunt on East 7th near my house)
Fri - 5th Annual (my first) Kaposia Days parade party at Courtneys - followed by Texas Hold em and bonfire when the kids leave - and maybe a beer or two.
Sat - Heidi scored tix to the US Womens Open at Interlachen (sp) with access to IBM Hospitality Suite (aren't we special)
Sun - hopefully some pool time.

Travis has a new girlfriend (Tiffany) - seems nice but I need to interogate her more.

Next week I have two days off - YAY!!!

KG and Top Chef

so I was going to blog about T Chef and then decided not too cuz LRH3 hadn't seen it yet. Stephanie won and I think it is SO AWESOME. She was my fav - cool that a chick with class won. Steph was nice, cooked great, from CHI town and FEMALE. There is still some snobbiness in chef world that is gender biased. Way to go Stephanie!

Now for the real news - I see LRH2 already blogged about our man KG. I have been watching the playoff games and he has struggled at times but came through last night. What an emotional and fantabulous moment - and yes I cried right along with KG.

The game was SICK!!!!! I appreciate that KG threw outa comment to "sota" and Chicago. He really has been a class act (even though some effenheimers flew....but how could they not?) Some flew at my house over the course of the series. Don just laughs at me cuz I'm all alone hootin and hollerin in the living room - he can hear me in the yard sometimes.

Throughout the series I learned to appreciate some Celtics - guys I didn't really know before but now maybe I have a second team to love :) Rondo, Perkins, Allen, and of course KG

Too bad Wolves mgmt couldn't (wouldn't) do what Celtics did - last year they only won 24 games and look at them now.

KG got a ring baby - bittersweet - to bad it wasn't in 'Sota. Can't wait for next season.

I do love my new Wolves - don't get me wrong.

OH YEAH _ LAKERS SUCK AND KOBE IS OVERRATED. ( i do grudingly admit his talent- but he is a creep) one guy in the crowd had on a tshirt that said LA SUCKS. Funny. Wish we had fans here that were in to the game and supported the teams no matter what. Makes a game so much more fun when everyone is part of the team. Like college or a LYNX game. Good time.

Diane Miller

So someone who was my very best friend for a while in my youth googled me and tracked me down. We did not part on the best of terms although I don't know if she would think of it that way but she screwed me over.

We had dinner last night - it was fun and lasted 2 1/2 hours. She brought pix of our wild and crazy young days (18-21 ish). I got to pick some out and keep them. Wish I had that waistline!!!!

Diane would like to meet again and probably on a regular basis. I'm not sure but we will see.

Talking with Diane last night made me think about some things and I am SO THANKFUL for all of you that read this blog (and those that don't). No matter what crap I had going on or how low I felt I always knew that I had friends and family that loved me and cared about me - even if I didn't show it or let you in.

I am fortunate for many things - some people don't even have family that gives a rats patoot.

Now don't tease me for showing emotion or it might not happen again ;)

June?!?!

How did it get to be June already? At the Epiphany reunion I had 3 others from my class show up - Lori Kish, Rose Sulivan and Pam Hartman. They look almost the same as they did when they were 15.......... I do not. Damn them! Lori has been a stay at home mom for 10 years (her oldest is turning 10 soon) and Pam has been a stay at home mom for 5 years (her kids are 18 and 20). Rose and I still slave away. But I really couldn't imagine not working anyway - unless I won the lottery and could spend all my time volunteering.

Work has been very busy - I have been here past 5pm several times - hell might freeze over!

Sunday I met my friend Teri and her baby girl Kiera for a walk around Como. Kiera is 10 months and this was the first time I saw her - SO CUTE. Chubby cheeks, blue eyes, bald head, 4 teeth! and some talking. She was a pistol and we had a great time. Started out with lunch at Leann Chin - walked a little, then found a shaded bench right by the water. There was a duck family with 15 babies - it was precious. And Teri is more cute than ever - I swear she is skinnier than before she got pregnant - I on the other hand am still carrying around baby weight. HAHA

Went to work out last night - first time in about 2 months. I am getting back on the work out wagon right now. Treadmill tonight and water aerobics again tomorrow.

I want to be able to bend over some day!

so anyway

so much for pools/fun/sun - typical MN Memorial Day weekend - cloudy/cool. We did spend Mon by the pool anyway and actually got a little color through the BANK of clouds.

Saw 3 movies this weekend - Untraceable - There Will Be Blood and Baby Mama - I really enjoyed all 3.

The school year ends this week for Travis - then he is taking once class for summer school to catch up on credits - Geography - the session is just over 3 weeks long.

Zach is wrapping up his training so he can be a shift mgr at Potbelly Sandwiches - he really likes it. Hopefully that can stablize his income and he can get back in school part time.

I'm still on my shopping quais-moratorium and have been doing pretty good - it is hard though. I have all these great coupons etc burning holes in my purse!!!! I was going to go buy a little Coach makeup/coin bag witha sparkly dragonfly on it cuz I had a 25% off coupon - but convinced nmyself I didn't really need it - especially since gas is $4. But if anyone needs to buy me a gift for any reason :)

catchin up

So last night Carrie and I were supposed to go to Baby Mama at the theater but then her dogs were sickies so I decided to go hang at her place and watch movies/tv. I picked up Thai on the way - YUM!
We watched a ro-co (romantic comedy) and while I was reluctant at first, I actually liked it. We have a running "discussion" that C only watches ro-co's - at least when we go to the theater that is what she ALWAYS wants to see! And I like darker/sci-fi/indie/whatever more than ro-co. And C - yes I do know that you just watched some indies :) The movie had Paul Rudd whom I really like. And it was more of an indie type ro-co. Good music too.

Carrie dvr'd AI while we watched the movie so we were able to fast fwd through most - stopping here and there til the big reveal. I loved the Gladys Knight video with Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr as pips - it was hilarious and if I had a "list": Robert would be at the top. He is delicious.

I liked both Davids - preferred Cook and wanted him to win but yet not - I hope he doesn't get stuck with some dumb song they give him. Sometimes it is better to be 2nd and not have the year long committment to the show. They both have a chance to be very successful. I really thought little David was going to win.

Travi spent all his bday money on paintball stuff - hopefully he will get out now - he has some buddies interested in playing together. Took him to a gastro specialist yesterday - he has to take Prilosec for 3 months and then stop - if at that point he starts to get heartburn again, he starts back on the Prilo and goes in for an upper endoscopy.

This weekend - POOLS/SUN/FUN

I have been ordered to blog

I know I know - I have been lax in my duties.

So what has happened lately?
April 12 was Don bday - went out for a late dinner at "The Strip Club" - we had the Swede Hollow Meatballs with black truffle sauce and ligonberries. The food was very good - typical upscale i.e. fancy, expensive and smallish portions. But probably realistic portions!
http://domeats.com/
http://www.rakemag.com/blogs/breaking-bread/2007/11/j-d-fratzke-strip-club
it was packed!!!! and our reservation was for 8:30. It was great to see so many non-neighbors come to the hood for dinner and drinks. I think it will be a success for some time to come.

April 16 - Twolves final game was fun and they won!! mike and Josh Whitlock came with me as they were in town for some training.

I'm going to Kraftwek tomorrow at The Myth nightclub - Jon and Gen are coming with Don and I. www.kraftwerk.com http://www.mythnightclub.com/

Tomorrow is Nordin breakfast - Tim and Tonya had a baby girl. Then I am meeting my friend Kate for coffee (tea 4 me) and show at night. Sun Heidi and I are getting massages. I will also try to squeeze in some kite flying if the weather and wind cooperate.

Travis has been dealing with serious anxiety issues and panic attacks so that has taken a lot of my time and energy. He saw a Dr. this week and really liked him so that was a great connection the first time out. Many people are not so lucky.

chores never get done

I spend my weekends doing everything but chores :) I think I have clothes still in the washer from Fri. Shopped til I dropped and got a huge amount of clothes for only 100$. Went to Wendy's for a girl party Sat - we ate gourmet pizza from Umbria. Chicken fajita, bacon cheeseburger and a macaroni and cheese pizza. They were all very good - even the mac and cheese. I made a sangria so got dippy on the wine and was in bed by midnite - criminy am I getting old?? My plan was to be up until at least two. We played some dvd games called Shout About or something like that. Sort of like trivia games but they are dvd's so you can play on the telly. They have them in tv, movies and music.

My friend Courtney had her baby on April Fools day - a darling little girl named Olivia.

Sun was a Wolves game - only two left. They lost but played well for most of the game. It's those moral victories as Bassy (Sebastian Telfair) said - that is the most we can hope for, are they doing well, making less mistakes, shooting better, rebounding more etc. And the answer is yes - they have potential to be a decent team. I will be "Renewing my Blue" this week. Also........ Carrie was looking for a connection to take 7 students to a game as a reward for an incentive program she has for a class of her kids. So I emailed Lindsay (my ticket rep) and she comped Carrie 9 tickets to Wed's games - at $125 per seat. Dude - those seats are better than mine!!!! It is cool tho' that she was able to do that - the kids have never been to a game and they are really into basketball.

Can't wait.

social butterfly

Fri - went out to Magnolias with Don to celebrate him getting a job. Watched Eastenders on PBS - they now show 3 episodes every week! YAY!!!
Sat - out the door at 10:30 to go to "Respect" with Mom and Heidi at Chanhassen Dinner Theater. Lunch was ok - had a glass of Pink Truck wine - very good and turtle cheesecake for dessert - yum. The show was awesome - funny and emotional....so tears all around and I got goosebumps a couple of times due to the amazing voices of the women. Then Don and I went to Blue Man Group "How To Be MegaStar Tour 2.0" it was FABULOUS - if you have never seen Blue Man I recommend it.
http://www.blueman.com/

Wolves/Sarah Jane Olsen

Abby and I went to a Twolves game - it was a lot of fun and they won! I bought Abby a small bball and an Al Jefferson jersey for me as they were half off! Only 45$.

Sara Jane/Kathleen S was released and now they say it was a clerical error and she needs to go back. I wasn't around (old enough anyway) when all the SLA stuff was going on so don't really knwo much about it. She was a productive citizen for many years after - then was found out and served 6 years. Do we really need to spend additional tax dollars incarcerating her some more? It just doesn't seem like a worthwhile solution. She isn't a threat and, in fact, has been an asset to her community for many years - maybe trying to make up for her errors.

Yes she committed a crime but has served time - she didn't actually kill anyone - maybe that was more becasue of luck than anything else, but she didn't.

There have been more heinous criminals let go to walk our streets than Sara Jane.

Twolves and ATC

Wolves Win!! Yay. It was a tense game and started out with a whimper but ended with a bang!! And I spotted Anne Craigmile from our Alex Tech days (her hubby family is also from Hallock). So we chatted with her for a few minutes - it was such a string of co-inky dinks that I even saw her to yell her over. The universe is mysterious.

Anyway - she said she remembered one time after clas I told her "You need to refresh your lipstick babe" - Heidi found it very funny that Anne remembered that after 14 years. I don't remember....... but I am sure I said it! Hey - that is what friends are for. We had a great relationship with her as we were also part of Business Professionals of Ameica and she was an advisor for the program.

The other thing she said was that they think of us every year at graduation when the students are getting their caps and gowns. Prior to the year that we graduated ATC had never had a cap and gown ceremony - students just showed up in their "nice" clothes. I wanted a freaking cap and gown as it was a big deal to me. So we had to present our PERSUASIVE argument to all the programs and then the student body voted. So I went to all the classses (I was prez) - I don't remember everyone else who did it too - and gave a speil (sp?) And 14 years later they still wear a cap and gown at graduation.

that's cool!

AZ (finally)

So the pix are still in the camera but here goes the blog part and I'll add pix later.

Fri Mar 7th - arrive in PHX around midnight (details on Heidi's blog)

Sat Mar 8th - swimming in the a.m. - it was a little cloudy but nice. Then we went to Cubs vs Dbacks spring training game. All the scouts were behind us so that was interesting to listen to them - Dad chatted up the Canadian's on the other side of him as I am a sports WATCHER and don't usually do much talking. The day was about 65 but the sun made it feel like 85 - it was GREAT. And I got to get my photo with Sonic and spin the wheel for prizes.

Sun Mar 9th - Mesa Flea Market - one of the best and they serve beer along with people watching. Burgers at Ronnies in Queen Creek - driving of Mercedes convertible.

Mon Mar 10th/Tues Mar 11th - drive to Grand Canyon - AMAZING - want to go back. Tooled down to Sedona through Oak Creek Canyon - the switchbacks were fun - at least to me.....not sure anyone else agreed. Sedona is beautiful - had Reflexology Massage, charged up at the Vortexes,

ate good food, stayed at Radisson Poco Diablo (I recommend)

I went swimming alone early Tues morn - peeps thought I was nuts but it was wonderful!
Fabu shopping in Sedona and went to the New Age Center and had a reading.

I saw Andrea - it was her last week at that location but she gave me her card. She was REALLY GOOD! I only told her my name, age and city of birth. She proceeded to talk to me about my life and she knew everything. Someone was talking to her because she was nodding and agreeing and repeating to me what they said. Seriously - there was no way she could have known the specifics she knew. She also tried to teach me how to breathe from my belly to help with my Chakras but I need to work on that - I'm too tense :)

Wed Mar 12th - up swimming in the 84 degree weather -Ellie's taco salad for lunch - a stop at Ross' (like Marshalls or TJ Maxx) on the way to the airport. Hom at 12:06 Thurs am.

General tidbits...... we drove the golf cart through the community to the pool etc.
Had FRESH grapefruit and orange juice everyday (SO GOOD) didn't even add sugar or anything.
Old people are rude!!!!
Weather was fantastic everyday.
Dad and Ellie are crazy - but we knew that :).
Sunland Village is like Summer Camp for the 55 and over crowd.
Senior living is a lot like junior high (drama, gossip, nosy.cliques)
Superstition Ranch Market is a great farmers market type store with great fruit and veg for cheap.

Places we ate - SONIC (YAY!!!), Whataburger, Jack in the Box(loved it), Organ Stop Pizza, T.Carls (great fancy food) some joint in Sedona with tasty Huevos Rancheros and a view, Johnny Rockets at Cliff Castle casino - we also left them some money.
We did have a great time and I will definitely go back. Next time I want to rent ATV's and drive through the desert.
